Okay, reserved a chapel--

Hey, all! Okay, "facts," subject to change if the family argues or anything, but here's what I know. I was asked for "late in the day on the 23rd."

So, here's what I believe to be true, and I'll probably sign papers or something soon--

John's memorial service:

Thursday, december 23
4-6 PM (how long do these usually last?)
First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin
(directions)

Austinites--this is pretty much next door to the old 49th and Burnet location of Dragon's Lair, it's just a few blocks down 49th to Grover. So use The Old Lair as your compass.

I plan to wear blue :) Aaand, if you have a barbeque pit and 'l33t BBQ skills, bring both of those to my backyard after the service for a barbeque. Bring meat, too, I can't afford everyone :)

I don't get off work til 6, but I'd like to come over if there's to be a gathering afterward. Could you email directions to wrenshafer@gmail.com?

i can't figure out why memorial services are supposed to be theraputic, comforting, whatever...

I dreamed the other day that you were organizing a wake for John. Your house was full of people and food. You were in charge of everything but the cheese fondue, and I remember thinking that was too bad, because you would've made a really good cheese fondue.

Blarg. So they're really going for the day before Christmas. I was hoping they might reconsider... sigh.

Now begins the process of my negotiating to get out of work for the service. It normally wouldn't be a problem, but about half the firm has the week before Xmas Eve off, including the person I'm covering for and their backup.

I will likely need a ride if I can get off work for the event. I'm currently working downtown, near the corner of 12th and San Antonio, if that's convenient for absolutely anyone. :(

This is subjective to change, but my understanding is we're looking at late in the day which means you might be off work anyways. If you can take the bus to the event (and I'm pretty sure it is along bus routes) then we should be able to get you home again.

The 23rd is the day before Christmas Eve. Not that it really improves anything.

If you still need the ride, email me privately and let me know. I'll be there, and would be happy to help his friends come by for one last huzzah. I guess that goes for all involved.

We'll be there. (Katie and I.) I should be able to get off work early. If we can, we'll bring chips, soda or the like. I say Cole should do the BBQing, as he and John were the first to light up the pit in your backyard. (the nuclear scale lighter-fluid ignition..)

Plus, there's something just wrong with tofu dogs at Johns wake; Thats just inviting polterghist activity.

I'm planning on attending, hope work understands.

Well, rather, I hope work understands that I will be at the memorial; them understanding enough to 'allow' it isn't something I plan on worrying about.
