*bonk, bonk, bonk*

It is hard NOT to be late to work when yer 2/3 through with the new HP book. It's even harder to focus on spreadsheets. And I just got to the part where Dumbledoor gets bitten by the vampire, too. Intensely frustrating.

You just know you are going to get hit with a million requests to lj-cut, don't you?

And you didn't even mention the revelation about Hermione's family being, well, you know.

Oh, I hope so :) Of course, I'm assuming Dumbledore *doesn't* get bitten by a vampire. If he does, what I meant was "of course, I wasn't expecting him to be a Transfigured *witch* all this time..."

(hee, I'm surprised no one else has commented, but I'm having fun thinking of things that are plausible.)

Well, you know, she was dropping hints about that as early as the first book, with the references to his shoes and his boots and all.

But what really caught me by surprise was the huge role Grawp had to play, after so many people resented the time spent on his sub-plot in Order of the Phoenix. Bet they feel silly now, hunh?

Dammit, I haven't gotten to Grawp yet! I'm only up to the scene where Madame Trelawney gets appointed as the assistant to the Minister of Magic.

'Course, that means the centaur taking her place will get a LOT more screen time in the movie. Rar.

I'm disappointed to lose Madame Hooch, though I'm hoping that when they make the movie, they'll give at least a couple of seconds of screen time to her Quidditch victory, given that the game is the backdrop for the emotional climax of the book.

After all, the Harry Potter books could always use more Quidditch. I only hope they get Sean Biggerstaff to play Oliver Wood again.

Oooh--they'd BETTER include that in the Special Potter "quidditch-only" DVD!

Hee, I would so buy that DVD.

Or a pinup Quidditch calendar.

That would imply a surfeit of time in my life, wouldn't it? :)

The whole romantic side of things was pretty unexpected, but I knew I had read between the lines correctly about Harry and Draco... they really were meant for each other.

I wish.

Sorry, Mercury, that sort of thing'll happen in the spin-off series that gives Ravenclaw a little more time.

Hmm..."Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, With Matching Drapes..."

I'd be happy with just a little more merchandise. I've been looking for Ravenclaw socks for forever.

I'm with ya there. Its really disappointing how the two other houses haven't been involved much more. Go Ravenclaw!

After the Sorting Hat's song in ...um ...I'm at work, but book three? maybe four? about how the houses must work together, I was rather hoping to see more general Hogwart's or Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw stuff, but no, what little is out there is mostly still Gryffindor or Slytherin. Sigh.

Makes it difficult to dress up without going in full costume. I can wear socks to work, if only I could find them.

The birds and the badgers just get no love.

Personally, I wasn't surprised to find out that Hermione was a death eater. That girl knew entirely too much for someone supposedly raised by normal humans. It was obvious *something* was up with her. Neville being Voldemort returned for the future in the body of a boy- now that really threw me!

Yeah, you are right, sorry about that. My bitterness escaped for a moment. Um, okay, let's go with ...

On the other hand, fanficcers have been talking about the Malfoy line being part Veela for ages, so imagine my surprise when the veela in the school turns out to have been Blaise Zabini all along.

*nodnod* Yeah, I'd read some of Rowling's spoilers on that one, but I was sure he was going to posess Dudley Dursley, with his hang-up about purebred wizards and all.

Re: Hehe
What I thought was fuckin' awesome was when Ron Weasley took the road trip while high on mescaline, zang, setting fire to everything with his wand, trashing the muggle hotel room, then slapping that prostitute.

It turned out to be okay, because the prostitute turned out to be Snape "undercover" but still - goes to show you that the books are getting more mature as the readers are.
