That was weird.

I'd gotten it into my head that I wanted to do a "Thrift Store Horror" LJ, with a new distressing, disgusting, tasteless and-or hideous thrift store find every week. Now that I've got a new camera, this is more doable.

So, I went to Savers (a thrift store the size of a grocery store, with actual good prices) on Monday, considering this, but I didn’t buy anything, because I've learned that just because I'm obsessing about something doesn't mean I should invest money in it. I've blown a lot of money on obessions that turn out to be temporary. It's hard to tell the difference.

Anyway, I found a really amazing picture. It was a kind of raver-girl velvet painting, done up with psychedellic colors, glue-glitter and metallics. With the bilateral symmetry, strange glowing aura and beatific expression, it looked like Perkestri, the Hindu goddess of Girl Power. I fell in love with it, but...put it back.

I went back yesterday to pick it up, thinking "Nobody would buy that thing."

Only to find out,

THE ENTIRE FRAMED ART SECTION HAD BEEN DESTROYED.

Wow, overkill.

They were thinking of the children. If you put that up on the internet...there's no TELLING who might look at it.

Yep! All taken away or sold--they'd set up for Halloween!
