One of the regular BBC songs is a sort of “history of music through parody.” Overheard:

My Vespa wasn't built with these long desert roads in mind,
Everybody else rides Harleys, I get left far behind—
And my mohair shows through the Fred Perry shirt, I get such funny looks,
But I don't mind, I'll wear my fishtail parka 'till I cook—
People tell me it's a rocking town, they say I don't belong,
But it don't bother me, I'm happy to be a G-G-Generation of one,
'Cause I'm the only Mod in Austin, Texas,
I'm the only Mod in Austin, Texas,
The rockers beat me (?) horrified, each Sunday afternoon,
12000 of them and one of me, at least it's over soon—
Tonight I'll find a honkey-tonk bar or one of those cowboy places,
And then I stand right in front of the band and say "play something by the Small Faces" (?)
My friends say it's too ostentatious a way of living in Austin,
I admit it's quite exhausting looking for places to get lost in—
'Cause I'm the only Mod in Austin, Texas,
I'm the only Mod in Austin, Texas,
I'm the only Mod in Austin, Texas,
I'm the only Mod in Austin, Texas…
