Massachusettes (sp?) one of two states to allow gay marriage and the only one that isn't currently being contested, is talking about dropping the law that states that only residents of Mass. can get married in the state.

Grin.

I'd MUCH rather go to Boston than Canada for our honeym/moon. I probably have friends there, if I checked.

Cool!
It'll force some ugly fights between the states with regard to interstate recognition and constitutional issues, but that's a fight that needs to happen, anyway.

It's hard to argue too much with state sovereignty as a policy, as long as people think of gay marriage as an "issue" instead of a "basic right." Still meaningless in Texas as the state's DOMA law says "state and its constituent bodies do not recognize any marriage between two people of the same gender," pretty basic language, but yes, it's a fight that needs to happen (and I hope it happens during a period of Democrat-controlled government, not that the Dems have been consistantly helpful in this battle).

actually, texas's law is the same sex, not gender; texas also does not recognize post-op transexuals. there are a handful of recorded couples where a post-op XY male to female is legally married to a XX female (and vice-versa).

it's really bizaare.
