General status report

So, big project number 1: Pagan presentation at Council of Magical Arts. Assignment: 1.5 hour (yeah, right) presentation on Unitarian Universalism for Pagans. Doable. Currently about halfway through with presentation. Some time to work tonight, taking Thursday off. Presentation: Some time Friday. I wonder when? Need to get that--and my ticket--resolved.

Weekend plans: Friday-Saturday, CMA campout. I'm REALLY looking forward to the vendor fair, and need to bring my good Didgeredoo for any possible drum circle. What to wear, what to wear.

Project number 2: Pagan bake sale, October 25, as a part of the big halloween party. I've got all day Saturday to work on that, so I'm not terribly concerned, and I've got my recipes picked out.

Halloween: I think I'm going to try to go to the Samhain ritual on Halloween Friday. This'll keep me out until 9:00, but it'll be fun, I'm not actually a part of the team putting it on, so it should be relaxing and a good meditation. They've done this ritual before.

After the 25th, NO PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR!!! Woohoo!!! :)

I'll be at CMA, though the time of my arrival is somewhat uncertain. I may be there sometime Friday during the day, or I may be there Friday evening, depending on what arrangements I'm able to make for the kids to be watched. Ken has suggested that I ask his grandmother about watching Rachel during the day Friday, but I'm not enthusiastic about leaving her there unsupervised - this is the same house where Rachel broke her foot by dropping a can (that had been stored in a lower cabinet) on it, and where one of Ken's elementary-aged cousins chased Andrew with a knife. And did I mention that she's likely to try a conversion attempt on anyone who sits still long enough? So... yeah. I'm willing to give up CMA time to keep Rachel away from all that. But You know several of the other Kallisiti folks. Deidra is planning to be there as early Friday as she can. Do you know where Kamp Kallisti is? I can give you directions, though many of the guardians are likely to know as well (not because we cause so many problems - many of our Kampers are in the guardians).

Ok, cool. If you happen not to have a GPSr handy when you get there, the quick-and-dirty directions are: follow the road parallel to the creek. Keep going past most of the campground. When you get to where the electric line enters the property, there's a huge metal electric pole just to the right of the road. Kamp Kallisti is the camp you've just walked past (the pole is one of the camp's borders). We've been deliberate about keeping some of the spiky brush around the perimeter (both as a noise / visual barrier, and to discourage random drunks from stumbling through and tripping on stuff), but there are two rather obvious entrances - just don't try to go bush-whacking through and you'll be fire. The small berm between the campsite and the road is home to a coral snake ("Jill"), so watch where you put your feet.

Hmm...maaaybe at that point it'd be better not to camp out, then. Just come over first thing Saturday morning, see the sights, stroll around and talk to people, spend too much money at the vendor's area, then boogie out at 4:00 or so. Camping's a lot of mobilization.

Thank you for your snicker, Mr. Hindsight. I can't tell if you're laughing because my schedule abruptly freed up a LOT, or because I can't manage to go a day without another commitment. Maybe both.

The latter. If the former had occurred to me I wouldn't have posted that comment. :P
