Ice and plants--

First (threatened) freeze of the year, so I dragged all my tropical plants inside.

The bathtub has turned into what would be a really neat scent-garden for the blind, except for all the fragile brick-a-broke around it. There's eucalyptus, lemon verbena, and patchouli, all of which smell really neat when you rub the leaves between your fingers. Whines barked at Dsukit when she started investigating them, which almost seems unfair, they probably smell really interesting :) It's kind of pretty, I'm almost looking forward to the winter, when they come to live with us for a few months :) None of these are particularly handsome plants, but it's a nice little sea of green.

There was a FANTASTIC lemon grass plant at Central Market, I may steal the idea - it was a big old pot that you couldn't quite hug unless you had gorilla arms, with huge stalks of lemon grass growing wildly out of it in a green jungle. Really nice effect! I'm going to have to do that. I wonder if it's safe to grow lemon grass in a shallow bowl? If it's actually a grass, it's got a shallow root structure...that would make the overall plant a lot easier to transport...

Can't wait for the colder weather. My mandrakes are coming back from the dead a second time this year, right in time for the cold! They are so random. =) Usually one would think that a plant would die off and revive once a year, but these just appear and disappear when they feel like it. Hoping to get some fruit this time around!

I forget, are mandrakes the ones you're not supposed to uproot, because they scream and you die?
