Home again, home again...

Camping trip to RenFest with Mahadri, Folf, Ashtaaaaaar. Ver. nice weekend, mid-sized furry gathering (25 people, neat!)

new (?) french mime act called Arseau, I think? His schtick is grumpy, condescending, sneer. Really well-done act. Kind of wish I'd gotten his DVD.

Ocean (?), some sort of cat-furry, wore an imprompteau "puss-n-boots" costume, and couldn't go 10 feet without someone taking her photo. She started to get grumpy after a while, but...it definatley added to the event :)

Barbarain struck up a conversation with someone about 20 feet from me at one of the shows, standing in profile. He was wearing a scrap of leather *maybe* twice the width of a dollar bill, but he could pull it off. *snickers*

Good faire, I didn't get to go last year so it was really nice to be back! I MUST get a better costume next year ... I was only one vest away (well, shoes would be good, too) from finishing a Dr Who costume. Maybe next year.

arsene dupin,
according to his website when he's not touring he's settled in austin with regular magic shows.

Thanks for the tip! I don't tend to go to shows in TRF much, but that one was really worth it :)

ditto- i've been going since i was born, so there's not much i haven't seen some version of, but i really enjoy arsene and it's one of the shows i still sit all the way through (birds of prey being the other-- it's funny when the birds catch a squirrel instead of doing the show!).

"Birds of Prey" is a snoozer for me, though everyone else I know likes it. I'm sorry I missed the live chess, though--or was that Scarby? I could always manage to go through a Flaming Idiots show, even though they repeated their material a lot...does Arsene have any variations, beyond that provided by audience behavior?

it might just remind me of watching the show w/ my family as a child :P
they did have a live chess show in the '80s and early '90s, in Sherwood with the fantasy and robin hood characters; Scarby's lasted a little longer.
ditto on the Flaming Idiots.
as for arsene, slight variation both in show and from audience (like, two yrs ago he had only the violinist, not the other two, and not the hamster) and he's always working on new stuff, but when you have a carefully timed show you can do w/out thinking, y'know...

Was it Oshun, the caracal? She's been flaunting her suit on LSF: http://www.lonestarfurs.org/viewtopic.php?t=2820

Oh, that makes sense, I heard "ocean," not "Oshun."
