I'll be talking to the sister tonight. A lot of people want to send flowers, and from the hints I've gotten, they don't want anything to do with memorials, having more than enough memories to cope with. Pretty much it's "if one more person hugs me or says "I'm sorry I'll scream". I'm guessing no flowers.

I'll talk about donations and things for the family this evening, but I think reminders of death are a no-no. We'll find out. Finances are rarely a no-no, if you want to help like that, I have a vague idea of the expenses they're incurring. I may end up asking people to send things to me and then relaying it to them, about half the logistics seem to be in my court on the "everything that isn't specifically about the corporeal form" thing.

It would be good if people could e-mail me their contact info at
if they need info specifically or info in a hurry. For the most part, I'll still be putting info in my LJ with the general expectation that non-LJ people get told.

A lot of people have asked this, so here's OUR answer--Larina and I are financially okay. I was already paying John's share of the rent, so the additional burden's not huge, though things may randomly change. Many Austinites have offered to help, and I'm not saying no, but we're not suddenly having to frantically plan out our expenses or switch to ramen. I guess if you know someone trustworthy who needs a room in Austin, that'd be useful information. It would be better if they didn't have much in the way of furniture, since the house is pretty stuffed as is. I've got some feelers out. They also have to have a high weirdness tolerance, and staunch right-wing conservative Christians are probably not going to fit in. And I don't know if I can cook for a vegetarian and someone else with special food needs, nor do I want the vegetarian to be able to ally with another freakish plant-chewing Tofite :)

Hey! I think having a second vegetarian is a very good idea. And what do you mean by they have to have a high weirdness tolerance? I'm not weird. I'm bizarre.

Hey! I'm a freak, but not because I eat plants! I'm a freak for other, very valid reasons! *grin*

"Hey! I think having a second vegetarian is a very good idea."

You go, girl! We gotta stick together!

Only reason I'm not offering is because I tend to curse any type of relationship by living with a person/people. Good luck, though!

And the room might be haunted.

I believe it is. Which means that either we need to get a guy who'd be compatible with John (must play happy country songs and put up Star Wars posters) or just have a girl move in. He's still got that pesky y chromosome. But if my pickle jars just randomally start opening themselves, I'm going to be worried.

I would too, I'd be out of a job.

The only person I can think of would be Sandi, but then you'd have to deal with a large, codependent, but very friendly, Alaskan Malamute.
