Does Hellboy count as Lovecraftian?

Loosely, yes, it's certainly got strong Mythos elements, and the lovely Hound of Ressurection is very reminiscent of HPL's work. But "Deadly Spell" actually references the Mythos directly, and Necronomicon, well, that's an obvious tie-in. Ia!

I'm still mnentially tossing round ideas for a Lovecraftian themed JadeClaw setting. Checked a copy of the annotated works of Lovecraft to bush up on a few ideas.

Oooh...I'm all aglow with warm fuzzies at the thought of that. Have you seen Toon's "Crawl of Catchooloo?" It's set at Mousekatonic University.

Hee :)

Drop me an e-mail if you want some suggestions! I'm not great with the Lovecraftian stuff, but I'm not bad--jvw @ io . com

Damn you. Now I'm reminded of all the cool Toon stuff I lost back in college.

*shakes fist*

I also recommend grabbing 'Cthulu 500' - if only for the Mudflaps that Shall Not Be Mounted.

In the unpronouncable name of all that is unholy, I urge you most stridently to include 'From Beyond'.

It has many many layers of latex. It has blood. It has transdimensional creepy crawlies. It has nudity. And best of all, it has Jeffrey Combs and his pineal tentacle.

What's not to love?

Hmm...that may have to be a follow-up, or a switch-in for Necronomicon.

Ew! I think I remeber seeing that one. :)

Also, there's a decent one called "Dagon" which is worth checking out if only for the people with tentacles for legs. Oh, and crummy accents. Don't forget them.

By "musical interlude", do you mean A SHOGGOTH ON THE ROOF?
Jan. 27th, 2005 09:21 am (UTC)
Oh yes. The DVD documentary :)

Whoops, was gonna shave you bald for not renting Dagon, but it was already mentioned hehe. As long as it isn't In the Mouth of Madness, or Cthulu Mansion...... hehe.

btw... HASTURHASTURHASTUR! buwhahahaaa

No, Dagon is a bad thing. I've seen that one. It's interesting...

The "Hastur" bit is an invention of TSR, Inc, NOT any of the Mythos group :) So Hastur all you want!
