Friday: Teacher's conference in San Antonio. Drove in my "new" Saturn. GREAT milage, but scary at highway speeds. Like driving a pingpong ball at 75 miles per hour. Bouncy, bouncy. This is...terrifying...in the rain. I need to have heavy, bulky passengers to help me pin down the car. But it handles well, stops well, and, hey, moves. So that's a good thing. Bought a pair of Hank the Cowdog CD's, with lots of songs. Fun stuff, but it didn't have the Coyote Brothers Rip and Snort's classic song "Rotten Meat." Aww. Evening: Cleaned up a little bit, then went to Dave and Busters, played lots of video games, and everybody gave me their tickets to pick something out from the store--2100 tickets!
In a perhaps futile defense of my masculinity, I didn't get the purple lipstick tube Glitter Light because I liked the floral pattern or the lipstick design. I got it because it was the only thing in my ticket range that *did* something.
Then, we saw porn at the drafthouse. "Groin with the Wind" and "Whore of the Rings" were my favorite, though the batman parody was inspired.
Barely woke up at 8:00 to make ready for trip to Natural Bridge Caverns. Drive there was fun, Texyote and Pouch taking front, Jerseytude and Butterfly middle, me, Whines and October in the back. Caves were amazing--it's nice to feel that sense of wonder that's hard to get past age 10 or so. Very nice experience. Will do the other trails in the vague to near future.
Butterfly made me a banquet! For someone who doesn't cook, she did a great job on my birthday dinner. Wow. There were a couple of "ehh..." moments, but that was because of the recipe, not her. Plan 10 from Outer Space is still one of the most important films of the past 15 years.
Slept in until 11, which was wonderful. Went shopping repeatedly. Texyote gave me an ADORABLE birthday gift, an apron with a big, twee hyena on it, licking its lips, with a chef's hat and shirt and "Spotty" on the side. I melted, of course. So cute!
Ver' nice weekend.
