So many wrong numbers

Every time the phone rings,
I ask, is it for me?
Maybe it's your call.
In finance, the phone rings.
Or in manufacturing, or sales.
I turn, poised, to catch your call,
even so far from my office
as editing, third floor.

In the restaurant, a man
(not you) reaches for his cel,
it is playing "Greensleeves."
Stop, I want to say. It is for me.
You were calling, and maybe
you misdialed.
