Forbidden Starches Blues...

Well, not so blue as all that. I've been on the South Beach Diet since Monday, and in the past four days I've dropped from 183 (the night after a chinese buffet) to 175 pounds. That's my "little tiny goal", since it's what I weighed before my life got all stressy back in November or so.

Terribly effective diet! And a lot friendlier than Adkins. In a week I'll be able to have the occasional chicken salad sandwich. Mmm, chicken :) I've also had to learn to cook a lot of different kinds of meat that I hadn't cooked before. The grilled chicken smothered in mushrooms and onions and bell peppers have been VERY tastey, and I made steak *and* fish for the first time ever over the last few days.

I don't weigh that much and I have a fairly light build, so I'll probably go off the harder parts of this particular regimen in a week or so, and switch to "maintainance mode".

Am developing a love-hate relationship with riccotta cheese. Wondering if there's a way to whip it and use it to top three pounds of chocolate cake strawberry jello.

I really do want to sit down with a huge plate of cheese and crackers, though I haven't had any major craving fits yet.
Nose to the Grindstone

Very idle thought

While making a chart of importiant criteria for evaluation, I noticed that the single form, "criterion," is quite pretty. Criterion. Cellar door.


Dinner: Grilled chicken and mushrooms smothered in mozzerella, topped with avocado and more mozzerella, with a tiny bit of lime. Bake 15 minutes. OMG. Dessert: untested, but theoretically baked egg substitute and ricotta with vanilla and butter flavor and cocoa--it tastes exactly like chocolate cake batter, but richer, so I think I'm on the right track--topped with strawberry jello cut with half'n'half, fat free, but still--topped with whipped strawberry-cocoa ricotta.

I can't believe I can do this to myself and still lose weight.
