And then Whines chipped a tooth on my meat.

Made shishkebobs for dinner last night. They were rump steak soaked in a mixture of soy sauce, chili sauce, mirin sweet wine, rice vinegar, lemon juice, Splenda (trying to keep the sugar low), alternating red bell pepper, pineapple, meat, big chunks of mushrooms, and onion.

They turned out SOOO well! Of course, barbequed pineapple by itself is god's gift to sugar freaks.

The part of the meal that didn't turn out so well--and is, in fact, still on the grill--was the sliced yams. I slathered them down with butter and threw them on to grill, but the butter dripping into the charcoal gave the dying flame a new fuel source creating a yam-destroying inferno.

Dinner was very nice, except that Whines got a little too enthusiastic and managed to chip a tooth on his fork :( I've told him that it looks ruggedly handsome and a lot of great cartoon characters have chipped teeth, but he isn't buying it :)

After that, I settled in for a book on haiku and some light heartburn.

My office is buying me lunch today, I forgot about that, so I have my choice of Mr. Gatti's Pizza or a huge bowlful of kebab parts--but eating in front of everyone who's just got pizza. *sigh* so many decisions!
