Brief observation for the day--

My co-worker, whom I baked a huge bowl of confiscated cookies for--received a package from "Cookie Bouquet," with big curls of bright tissue paper in a little faux flower pot, with frosted cookies on wooden dowls, like peculiar blossoms.

After three days, the tissue paper is just as brightly colored, and the flower pot is still there too, but with all the cookies gone, it's all promise, but there's only tragic wooden dowels, broken stems.

Somehow, this seems like an allegory for love, but that may just be me.

A relative sent me something from "Cookie Bouquet" while I was recovering from my hospitalization. Big frosted turtle-shaped cookies. Why turtles? I have no idea.

I am not a big 'frosting' fan, so I let my daughter go at them. Her evaluation is as follows:

"Ew. These cookies suck!"

So, there you go. Maybe the dowels are tastier.

Whell, they're not bad, as shortbreads go, but the icing's a little strong and chemically, and they're definately built to last a few days. But they cost a ridiculous amount, and personally, I'd prefer a basket of chocolate chipers that don't look like, say, footballs, or smiley faces, or heaven help us, hyenas. No sense being sick *and* disgusted.

I take some solace in the knowledge that nobody makes cookies that look like hyenas. Lions on the other paw.... ;?)

Darn it, now I'm going to have to make a hyena-shaped cookie cutter. I think I'll make butter cookies with it, and explain that they're hyena-butter cookies. One person in 30 will gag.

I'd be very impressed if one person in thirty understood the reference ;?)

Okay, fair enough, one person in thirty that has had to listen to me babble about hyenas.

Then again, they are the ones most likely to be eating your cookies, are they not? ;?)
Oct. 24th, 2003 02:25 pm (UTC)
Not if they know about hyena butter, no.

There's no accounting for taste ;?)

(insert gagging noise) Sorry, SH, there's only so long I can think about this particular food product...
