I'm not sure if this was a productive weekend from the "getting things done" perspective, but it was from a higher-Maslow-level perspective.

1) I spoke to my father in a friendly context for the first time since 2001. Since my parents' divorce I haven't had any contact with him beyond an awkward encounter last Christmas and a 30-second phone call the day before my birthday (he wanted to give me a gift certificate). The conversation last Thursday was positive, and accomplished the two goals of reestablishing something resembling a relationship with my father, and getting the recipes he has that I might consider killing for. Potato salad first (see #2, below), then chicken and dumplings.

2) Brought Whines with me to an office party, along with other edibles like potato salad and kahlua pecan pie. I really haven't been "out" at the office because I'm a fairly private person and it's not often I have reasons to peek outside the closet. Why tell people I'm gay if I wouldn't ordinarily talk about my social life? But bringing my partner to an office party, perfectly appropriate, and a minor burden off my chest, which along with #1, I'm travelling a little lighter now. I'm not hiding my loved one.

3) Aaaand, my credit card is under $500 now, which means that, if I "starve" myself, I can wipe it out entirely on the 15th! By starve, I mean "don't buy anything from E-bay and Amazon and don't cook any meals over $40, no visits to Half-Price Books and don't buy any books from Dragon's Lair unless I would have bought them anyway (so no "Shopping!") I had my credit card payed off entirely (thank you, John Marques, wherever you might be), but let it creep up to $2700 due to poor organization and deadbeat roommates. Over the last six months I've been paying a good $3-400 a month to keep my bill down. Nearly done!

So, the balance sheet at the end of the month should be:

Debt: $400 owed to mom on car. No non-family debt at all!
Car: Reclaimed from sister, end of July
Needs: Re-establish insurance policy in my name.
Relationship status: very good :)
