One of the clearest moments of my own mortality washed over me at Sam's Club a few years ago.

I was buying coffee filters. Typically, I use two coffee filters a week--one on Saturday, one on Sunday, because I generally only brew coffee at home on the weekends.

Coffee filters were cheap. Something like 7,500 for $25. I think that's what it was.

I stopped. I wanted the filters, I hate running out of them. But my life would run out before those filters.

I didn't buy them.

You should have taken it as a challenge, in the "we will bury you" vein. "Okay, coffee filters. There's only enough room in this town for one of us. See you in 2081, suckers."

we used to do this in kindergarten...

wad up the filters in different ways and dip points in watercolored water... after they wick up lay them out and dry.... can be displayed as is or the middle bunched up in a clothespin (spreading the two sides out makes a butterfly)

In photography, they make and excellent diffuser for the flash / other external light source that's too harsh.

Ha Haa! Joke's on YOU!

Last night, Shrub announced that the US will be switching to the Coffee Filter Standard

*singing* We're in the filters! We're in the filter! We've got a lot of what it takes to brew along!

Oh, poop. Here I thought investing in a gold-plated filter was a sound plan :(

Not enough of a geek
That's all. You weren't exposed to evilness enough for it to wear off properly from us. Housedraco, those last for less than a decade. Or you could just get the reusable gold filters (they do work and cost less than 25 bucks)

Re: Not enough of a geek
Hi, roy :) Actually, I cut back a lot because after eight cups a day I was starting to have chest pains...
