Weekend in review--

Packed weekend--nothing so unusual about that, of course.

Friday night, movie night with Nick and Whines. Didn't really have any
"movie" per se, just odds and ends, so a bit of a snoozer, but nice to hang out.

Saturday morning--futzed around, did a little writing, then went out to kaanah's birthday at Dim Sum and jumped up and down on my diet.

Talked a bit with Butterfly about future of housing situation. I need to set aside more money for whatever happens in December. I'm not sure what that is yet, I'm guardedly optimistic. But saving money's so hard!

Came home, tried to work on a keyboard I'd been circuit bending to good effect lately. Wasn't changing the circuits this time (I'd made all those changes already), just adding an external power supply and an audio jack instead of the speakers. Total lack of functioning followed. Very sad. Attempts to revive: futile.

Got mopey and dejected. Went to Tobias and Foxxor's house for movienacht, where many anime--much anime? Is anime a single, plural, or collective plural?--was shown. Ate WAY too much of Foxxor's thai-style fruit-and-tapioca dessert. Am embarrassed.

Sunday: Saw an amazing thing. A room full of 120 Unitarian Universalists passing a 100% unanimous vote. I've never seen anything like that in my life.

Will now be holding a monthly dinner for my church's GBLT group. If anybody's interested, I'll post an announcement about it in mid-march.

After church, lunch, cooking, and gaming. Had fun at the game, a fair bit of fun RP with a blue dragonness before a probably unavoidable combat with the same dragoness. I'm not much for twinking my characters, I don't really enjoy min-maxing or, as most of my previous GMs will attest, even playing an effective character, but a critical strike on a large greataxe +2 with Weapon Specialization for about 70 points of damage felt r-e-a-l-l-y good. Except presumably to the dragon.

Almond-crusted chicken with wasabi cream sauce and ginger asparagus for dinner.

Spent a little too much money on ingredients, and bought a few children's toys to soothe my soul after destroying my keyboard, but overall spending was at a low, which is for the best. I need to cut way back.

Promise to myself: I'm going to have a flat tummy for Pridefest this year. Work toward goal: Scarfed a large plate of cheese and crackers for breakfast. I can see I'm going to be fighting with myself about this for a while yet.

It was really amazing. It was the first vote, too. Not a second vote, no discussion, just 100% unanimous vote, right off the bat, with a hewge number of people.

Ok, seriously... What was the vote on? Whether or not gravity exists? o.O

Here's the setup--we were expecting to fall $20K short on our budget, so we decided, after much grief, to 1) not pay our full dues to the national Unitarian association, and 2) to not hire an intern minister.

Very controversial decisions, made a lot of people sad.

So, pledges and contributions were higher than projected, by about $15K. So, the vote was, thusly:

"Do we want to use this projected surplus to hire an intern minister?"

Not a black and white issue, a lot of people think contributing to the nat'nl fund is important, or that we should set aside money in case of future pitfalls. A total, no-argument unanimous vote was shocking, and day-brightening.

Thanks for coming to the meet. I really liked those raspberry-covered pretzels you and Whines brought. Those were good. Oh, and the blame for the thai-style desert goes to Dahan, who made those chewy pieces that resemble pomegranate seeds.

Yah...next time, I'm going to politely decline, or at least not have more than a few spoonfuls! Oi, starches will ruin my girlish figure...
