Why isn't there a broadway musical version of "Dune"?

That's easy.

A musical version of Dune, would involve large chorus numbers in which none of the performers actually walk or dance with rhythm. It's too difficult to choreograph.

That's true to an extent--but on the other hand, can you imagine the Riverdance-type numbers if you assume that instead of a thumper machine, the entire company has to perform an elaborate dance number to actually call the worm to the surface?

...swallowing the entire dance company. Curtain.

I'd pay to see it.

Must star Christopher Walken as the Emperor.

Personally, I think it violates the laws of man and nature. Then again, I think musicals violate the laws of man and nature.

Because once "Krull, the Musical" flopped, they took the idea off the counter ;)

Even though "Ice Pirates, The Musical" was such a hit?

I could not get the "Spider Queen" song out of my head. Argh!

"Requiem for a Cyclops" had me in tears.

Maybe Frank Herbert's estate refuses to authorize one.
