Thought for the day: Mudslide cake.

Step one: Make Baileys Irish Cream chocolate cake.

Step two: Make two batches of whipping cream. The first should be spiked with Kahluah and dusted with enough cocoa powder to give it a light brown color. The second should be spiked with vodka. Does vodka have a flavor?

Slice chocolate cake into thin layers. place one layer on the bottom of a large dish. Build a trifle with alternating layers of cake and the two creams, a different cream every other layer.

Chill for two hours. Garnish with chocolate curls.

I have a German friend in the UK that just made a Nutella cake :9 Somehow, the prospect of combining your cake with nutella icing..makes me drool :9~~

Notella icing sounds fantastic! It'd be a step away from the "mudslide" concept, but worth considering as a seperate idea. Ooh.

It's hard to go too wrong with Baileys :)

Vodka doesn't have a perceptible flavor, especially in congress with those other flavors. However, a top-end flavored vodka like Stolichnaya Vanil or even a cheaper brand sprinkled conservatively might be noticeable but not overpowering.

This sounds good even without liquor. Which I feel guilty saying.

Thanks for the suggestions (Do I know you?) Since I don't drink (beyond using the sweet desert-y liquours as baking ingredients), I have no taste at all for alcohol, so it's really helpful to get feedback from someone what knows a bit more than I do. Would a shotglass of flavored vodka to a cup of whipping cream be way too much? When you whipped that, it'd be probably three cups or so of "frosting."

I should probably get a new LJ account one o' these days. I believe we met at Sparrow's get-together. Not an incredible talkative bunch and I was no exception, but I remember a Jacob/hyena. I bought the plate of mixed cheeses (mentioned because I find cheese jogs my memory).

I think a shot glass would do fine, no more than two ounces.

Oh, hi! Yes, I do remember you now--yeah, Sparrow's movie night isn't the best social-talk-time (Thursday furry gathering's better for that, or Fizzit and Itza's semi-monthly house-party's also a lot of fun--best event for general chatter. Thanks for the tip!

You wouldn't notice if I re-entered my old house just to raid the fridge, would you?
