Steaming pile of crepe...

Crepe bonanza last night. Butterfly and Jerseytude came over for dinner. Got a bit of a late start, but wrapped up everything by 8:00--Butterfly's a vegetarian, so I made crepes stuffed with steamed asparagus and hard boiled eggs topped with hollendaise for her, sort of an eggs benedict event. For the carnivores, chicken, baby bellas and fennel with brie, topped with a dollop of white sauce and a little tarragon (the fursthatcook community is a great resource for show-off type recipes!)

Dessert was, basically, strawberry and blueberry blintzes. The strawberry "syrup" smelled wonderful--six or eight big strawberries blended with a little water, a little sugar, then cooked with a dash of almond extract. It smelled like strawberry candy :)

Had blintzes for breakfast. I'm tired of crepes now.

Okay so maybe it's not the best thing in the world for a diet, but thanks for the wonderful meal. I hope you know you could charge people for those blintzes.

Hey. Wait a minute. You usually do. Normally, the price of a good Jacob-made meal is watching a Very Bad Movie. Last night the movies were actually good.

*checks for pod person* *shruggs upon not finding tell-tale pod person mark*

Well...see, part of what happened was Whines derailed my second movie, which was the 90-minute "Flatland." It had Charlie Sheen in it. It could have been quite bad, but...we just don't know.

*Breathes a sigh of relief*

That's really good to hear; I was starting to worry that pod people had found more ways to hide their presence. :)

Of course after seeing the short version of "Flatland" and liking it, I do want to see the longer one. Hmmm. I wonder if I can ever convince you to make more crepes?

That's probably for the best. My scale says I've gained nearly two pounds since yesterday. Since I behaved for breakfast and lunch and even exercised, it must be dinner. Of course it's scientifically impossible for that to actually be fat. I mean it was really tasty but, unless you did something REALLY strange to it (which I know you didn't), it couldn't of possibly contained 7,000 calories. Still, my scale was trying to scare me and it worked. :P

My one complaint is that I feel like a crepe filling should be just a bit liquid, and the chicken one was just kind of solids that didn't mesh too well together *shrugs* Try, try again. Or, fry, fry a hen.

La Madeleine did a chicken crepe that sounded similar- it was mainly chicken and broccoli inside (pretty chunky) and their mushroom sauce stuff on top. It was my favorite.

I guess I'm used to blintzes, with a very soft filling, so having chunks of relatively dry ingredients in a crepe just seems kind of incongruous

HA-ha! I got a giggle from that one especially as you used a white sauce... the very thing I got kicked for posting... the "most offensive post I've ever seen!" in actuality. Too funny. Well, I'm off to a breakfast of Kraft Dinner with pepper and cream-cheese (NOT!)

Urr. Just some stupid drama from months ago. Everyone was posting "recipes" that amounted to adding pepper to Kraft Dinner. I had the nerve to post a full run-down on the art of the white sauce, sauces in general, and show that anyone could make said in the same time that it takes to boil noodles. Faux pas!!!
