Weekend in review--

Friday night, went to see "Big Man Japan" at the Alamo Drafthouse. It was rewarding, though the end confused the heck out of me. Lots of really zany CGI giant monsters, and a strange, subdued sense of humor. Almost drier than British humor.

Amazing lightning storm that night. The lawn's going to go crazy with grass soon.

Saturday morning--slacked off for a while, wrote an LJ post, drank coffee and talked to my plants. Something seems to be eating the English Mint, like a caterpillar or similar. I don't know what. Maybe I'll trim off all the damaged leaves and see if I'm making it up. Whatever it is may be making in-roads on the cinammon basil as well, but everything else seems to be doing okay. The Chocolate mint is filling out a bit, and the peppermint seems to be exploring its environment. I'm hoping I can have my first harvest by the furry gathering on May 24.

Saturday afternoon--church stuff, the pagan group was invited to serve lunch at a conference, just to get our name out in a positive way. That went well. Got to talk fooood with the caterer.

Saturday, late afternoon--Dev Racoon organized a get-together at Barton Springs, I hadn't been there in years. The water was just as frigid as I remembered it, but we splashed around for a while. Met a couple of new-to-me younger furs. Lunch-dinner at Din Ho chinese barbeque--EXCELLENT orange chicken, very crisp.

Sunday--most of the gathering from the day before was asleep somewhere in our house, so snuck around for a while, had coffee and watched the rain. Beautiful rain. Went to church to take care of the visitor information table. Wearing sandles, stepped in a pond and made "squish-squish" noises all day. Came home, went shopping with furs, barbequed some chicken--which, I think, was nearly raw in places :( I'm not very good at barbequing yet. *sigh* But Whines had turned on the red overhead light, so nobody noticed. Clever Whines :) Hope I haven't inadvertantly given anyone food poisoning, but the chicken seemed pretty fresh.

Fyre may or may not be moving into our house, we'll see what that does to everybody's ambient crazy-levels. Probably should upgrade the fridge soon, maybe the washer-drier as well.

  • Aww :)

So for YEARS the University of Texas Pagan, Vampire Larp, and GLBT groups tended to cluster around a particular oak tree in the west mall. I think we…

Whoof. I've taken a few beatings over the last few days over this. My office is moving across town, which spells an end for my nice little commute…

  • Tonight's experiment--

Okay, so it's Dogai's birthday tonight. Bauson said that D really liked "biscoff" cookies, which are buttery little things with a touch of spice, and…
