Opinion:

Rifts/Palladium is the straightest, most purely male-focused role-playing game on the market. Equipment lists over social abilities, in fact no social rules at all, that's one thing. But they also have the annual swimsuit edition, which is consistantly the "femme fatales" of their game world. Last year, I think, as a joke, they did illos of all the pudgy white male game designers on their staff. I wonder--not that it's important or even relevant--if they have any gay NPCs. A lot of game systems throw in one just to show they're open-minded.

Rifts isn't an RPG. Rifts is what happens when you spend more time thinking of the 39th version of "cyborg" than you do actually seeing if the rules you wrote made any sense.

Meh, I don't know, the rules are just about sophisticated and balanced enough to run a LARP. It's got some good ideas (points for "most developed game world," even if there's large inconsistancies across it), though the system hasn't been revamped in the 25 years the company's been around, which is a problem, for sure. But the XY Chromosome factor is incredibly high.
