Teeny little purslane seeds, the size of a period at 5pttimesnewroman, make teeny little purslane plants :) I brought Whines out to see them, and couldn't find them. Whoops!

Planted some new Stevia plants in my designated stevia bed, which upset the fireants somewhat, as apparently I was mostly growing fireants in that bed. So I watered them.

BTW, have you seen this T-shirt? :D

I figured you'd dig it.

That's kind of creepy! I think I like it in concept, but it kind of tarnishes the care bears somehow...

do you have any diatomaceous earth? (i probably spelled that wrong); it also goes by D.E. they have it at tractor supply, ace, and most hippy gardening places. it's a good thing to put around plants you might eat, as it doesn't harm humans. it is a very sharp granule (diatom fossils) that rips open the belly of crawling insects. it's not as fast or thorough as poison, but it's safer on food-plants (there's also a host of orange-oil based stuff, but i don't know their effectiveness).

interesting...I'll look into it!

You can also drown them in lots and lots of boiling water (though that usually is *not* very good for the plants, it's more of a pre-treatment)

don't forget, i have aloe-of-winter-and-forget-to-water-survival-doom if you can find your way over...

You'll want to do something to cut down on the fire ants - they make gardening really unpleasant!

Truth. Particularly since they're snuggling down in edible plants that I'm going to have to dig up in the fall to winter over.

*picks up Whines and waves him in a "look at this" sort of way*

He said he'd build me a greenhouse :) *laughs* That may be a bit extreme, but I'm not going to say no to it...

Also something called Auntie Fuego Soil Conditioner. It is a mix of liquid compost, molasses and orange oil. Say its good to nix ants and acts like a mild fertilizer. Got no personal experience with it though. I just summons demonic armadillos upon these pests. (Just remember to unsummon them before they dig up your plants.)
