Puttering last night...

Went around the block in the downtown yuppie shopping quarter with Whines last night. It was the evening of perpetual crowding--our favorite restaurants were flooded by a weekly live-music venue that we always forget about, so we ended up having Fuddruckers burgers. Not bad, I usually enjoy them (I think what I really enjoy is their great fries...)

Stopped by local indy record store, local used record megawarehouse, local gay bookstore, got a little of this, a little of that. I finally have a copy of Sisters of Mercy's "This Corrosion," which is one of my favorite pieces of music. The jury is still out on whether I like the rest of the album. It's nicely epic, though. We found a two-CD set of techno club mixes of broadway guess which store? That's right, the gay bookstore. It looks cute, even if they cheated by including something from "Mamma Mia," which was just an abba song from their 70's club album.

There is a tall block of condos or apartments with a color-changing light display on the underside of its roof canopy. It's pretty neat. Someday, ALL of Austin will change colors. Anybody that doesn't like it will be sent back to Dallas.
