Ice cream, again--

Made ice cream last night with some of the mint from my front yard. Mostly the chocolate mint plant, which has a very subdued mint element (not a lot of menthol). The results were tasty, but to my mind a bit more of a sweet cream flavor than a mint flavor. Maybe I'll try again and just use the really strong flavored stuff next time, but it was a good experiment.

Ice cream maker didn't survive :(

Have you tried soaking the mint in an alcohol base? Plain old vodka would take on mint flavor pretty well and relatively fast, but if you used something like grapa, you'd have a more complex flavor.

Not a bad idea, vodka's used pretty frequently to extract flavors. What's grapa, out of curiosity?

I'm not much of a drinker, so I don't tend to reach for the booze as a solution to life's (cooking) problems, though it frequently is.
