Musing on the coffee pot.

All evidence points to Thursday as being the Day of Massive Layoffs.

But the strongest supporting evidence I can find is that they still haven't repaired the coffee pot on my level :(

I'll take the hugs, regardless of the context :)

Ha, one indication that my last workplace was beginning to feel the crunch was seeing engineers in the bathroom, cleaning their coffeemakers.

That's kind of cute, as an image :)

Well, hopefully if you've established yourself as a 'can't-be-afforded-to-be-lost' person it'll all be good.

On another note, if a layoff does happen I'll try and make you candied apples or caramel apples.

I don't know what I want more either...your job or the apples...

Heh. I don't particularly want my job...I want the money, but the job's kind of meaningless right now. Most of the people I like to work with are gone now. This would be a bad time to be unemployed, but I don't have a heck of a lot of emotional investment, beyond a basic need for money. I've actually got enough cash to float for a month, in addition to any severence I'm likely to get.

The sad fact is, when you've got three massive institutions worth of people, *nobody's* valuable enough to be indespensible. They've cut my position before, it could happen again.
