Lessee...bad omens. It looked like they might cancel this morning. the_october asked me to wake him up at 8:00, but I stayed up so damn late, that when I got up the sunlight was streaming in, and I said "I can't wake him up, I'll never get back to sleep. I'll just snooze for a while..." (later) "Okay, that's enough, it's probably 9:00 now." Nope, 7:30.
Got ready, loaded up the car with peoples and chicken salad in a cooler, just me an' my goddess (October went as Eris, Goddess of Chaos). Found a PRIMO parking space just off 12th and Lamar. Parked. Took luggage to the park, where Eris and me in my hunter's fatigues, safety orange vest and antlers were the first two people in costumes. We were also the beginning of the drum circle, which grew to several hundred drummers, dancers, and audience over the course of the day.
The next thing I did, I loaned my cooler to a drummer to keep his butt off the rain-soaked earth. I got it back at 7:30 at night, and still haven't had lunch.
GREAT event! A little smaller than last year, but the air was almost bracingly cold, which is frikkin' unnatural for Austin in May. It's usualy 85+.
