Meanwhile, in weirdsville...

Tonight, downtown Austin plays host to one of its biggest biker conventions ever, a Gay Pride parade, and a tri-state high school vollyball competition. Merriment ensues.

The gods looked with favor upon my purchase of a cookbook--a bound collection of 1940's and 50's Good Housekeeping digests, it's beautiful. I pulled into the artsy shopping district of South Congress at 5:30, parking on the street on the SoCo diagonal parking strip, where your car's butt is so close to the street that drivers swerve to miss pickup trucks. Right in front of the store. Dashed in, had to the penny exact change for the book, dashed out, and someone was vulturing my parking space, so I was able to ESCAPE from it without any wait whatsoever. Went home, and managed to average a little over 65 miles per hour on the cross-town drive home--during rush hour.

I'd rather they looked with favor on my and my roommates' finances, or blessed me having a stable relationship, or gave me inspiration (and motivation) to write that book, but if the Gods want to smile upon my shopping, that's okay too.

Comedy of Errors Update!

The City Colliseum is also having a bridal extravaganza and fashion show today! This isolates the "movie of the week" combination to 80's situational comedy, with wrap-up musical number. Or possibly a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta.

BTW, I think the gay pride parade is Saturday, not tonight.

Pity, the lighting out there is fabulous :)

Well, no, it's really more rave-ey, a dozen god-size strobes going off at once...very neat.

Deja vu
Eek. Ironically an Austin gay biker rally is precisely what drove me deeper into the closet last summer. That and the temptation for succulent turkish delight.

Reggie, there is no way I can parse that to where it doesn't sound obscene. I hope that was the intent.
