Today's experiment:

Chipolte chocolate cake with mexican chocolate icing.

(small whimper)

The batter's really good. A nice controlled burn that lasts about a minute. Haven't made the icing yet. Kind of winging it, as I haven't been able to find a recipe for this sort of thing on line.

I need milk, stat. All I've got is buttermilk. Crap.

I bet you cook with whole milk too and it'll be really worth stealing and scarfing down when you finish *rolls over as TexYotie keeps telling me that you're very good atta cooking* I'm not bad atta cooking, but really wish I could do more =o.o=

Well...actually, I wanted the milk because I licked the eggbeater, and it was spicier than I thought at first. Let me know when you're gonna be down to Austin, and I'll be sure you're well-fed :)

You made chipotle? ... Have I ever told you how noble and underrated a creature the majestic hyena is?

No, but please do :)

I think this recipe is a "keeper." A couple of things I would change--bittersweet chocolate in the icing instead of semisweet, and some black pepper, and maybe a touch less sugar in the batter--or some pepper that does a mid-tongue burn instead of just a back-of-the-throat burn. It was a bit too sweet, and a bit too chocolate. It needs some refinement, but the idea is definately sound :)

Save me a slice?

Ooh--last slice was breakfast this morning, sorry :( I'll probably make it again, though. I didn't think you liked spicy?

I don't, but the way you described it made it sound delicious. Besides, if it's got chocolate in it, how spicy could it be?

Also, I've got a copy of the Lost Skeleton of Cadavra if you want to see it.

People in the 2000s sought to create a brand-new b-movie, using black and white film, no special effects budget, and possibly the worst script in existance.

In other words, they tried to make a "so bad it's good" movie... on purpose. Oddly enough, this works. Just like Conan's "Actual Items" program (a parody of Leno's "Headlines") you CAN make this stuff up.

Hilarious in parts, too hackneyed in others, but it's all fun. You'd like it.

Fair enough, but I want it to be SPICIER! The chili powder and chipoltes were good, but not enough...

Do you know if they make non-cocoa Abuelita chocolate? I do believe that cinnamon treat has the bittersweet kick you're looking for. :)

While I *lurve* Abuelita and have a box in my cupboard right now, and the original (not the hershey buyout blander version) is definately the flavor I'm going for, I'd rather find out how to duplicate that spice combination than use someone else's. It'd be much more satisfying.
